Dallas, Texas \u2013 September 12, 2023\u2014 Sutherland Furniture, the preeminent provider of luxury outdoor furniture, has announced new collections for Fall 2023. Sutherland is thrilled to unveil Samsa<\/em>, a beautiful teak collection from Venezuelan interior and architectural designer Maximilian Jencquel. The brand is also expanding existing collections, including Oceana <\/em>by Bannenberg & Rowell Design, Franck <\/em>by Vincent Van Duysen, Gallery <\/em>by Lucas, Gulassa<\/em>, and Poolside<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

Inspired by Indonesian carpentry, Venezuelan-born Balinese designer Maximilian Jencquel created Samsa <\/em>with his signature humble timeless aesthetic in mind. The teak frames are reminiscent of teak scraps Jencquel sees regional carpenters reuse as useful objects. \u201cThey are improvised pieces of art, maybe comparable to Jazz music,\u201d says Jencquel. \u201cThey are creations of the soul for the soul.\u201d Seating options include the Samsa Lounge Chair<\/strong>, Samsa Armless Chaise<\/strong>, Samsa Three-Seat Sofa<\/strong>, and the Samsa Daybed<\/strong>, an oversized lounge piece ideal for hospitality projects. Perfect accessories to complement a seating area, the Samsa Teak Stool <\/strong>and Samsa Stone Stool <\/strong>provide a touch of eclectic flair.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

Samsa <\/em>also debuts five tables that showcase Jencquel\u2019s passion for exquisite teak. \u201cTeak is undoubtedly one of the nicest timbers to work with,\u201d exclaims Jencquel. The Samsa Round Occasional Table<\/strong>, Samsa Round Side Table<\/strong>, and Samsa Rectangular Coffee Table <\/strong>feature stunning rounded teak slabs as the table legs, with simple teak tops. Alongside the teak top option, the Samsa Large Round Coffee Table <\/strong>and Medium Round Coffee Table <\/strong>can be designed with Sutherland\u2019s Indo Gray stone, a new marble for the brand.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

Designed by UK superyacht design firm, Bannenberg and Rowell, Oceana <\/em>is an outdoor furniture range inspired by the evocative contemporary aesthetic of Jon Bannenberg. Sutherland introduced Oceana <\/em>in Spring 2023, and after much critical acclaim, the brand is expanding the collection to include the Oceana Bar Chair <\/strong>and Oceana 63\u201d Round Dining Table<\/strong>. The Oceana Bar Chair is available with two separate base options: a freestanding base and a bolted yacht stool base. The Oceana 63\u201d Round Dining Table incorporates the collection\u2019s sleek stainless steel accents and beautiful curves.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

Sutherland introduced Franck<\/em>, the first collection with Vincent Van Duysen, in 2018. For the past five years, both residential and hospitality clients have flocked to the collection for its soft refined appeal. The brand is now offering the Franck Bar Chair <\/strong>and Franck Counter Chair<\/strong>, beautiful pieces perfect for both indoor and outdoor bars. Also in the Spring 2018 collection, Lucas Interiors designed the stunning Gallery 132\u201d Rectangular Dining Table. The spectacular piece features a slab of Carrara marble inset within a teak frame. This season, Sutherland is offering a smaller Gallery 108\u201d Rectangular Dining Table<\/strong>, as well as a Gallery Rectangular Coffee Table<\/strong>, which will be available with a Dekton insert option. The Dekton option will also be available on the original 132\u201d table.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

Adding to the lineup of client-favorite swivel chairs, Sutherland is debuting the Poolside Swivel Lounge Chair <\/strong>and Poolside Elevated Swivel Lounge Chair<\/strong>. Both chairs feature the Poolside collection\u2019s signature clean lines and premier comfort, plus a convenient return swivel. The armless slipper versions are also receiving the swivel update in the Poolside Elevated Swivel Slipper Chair <\/strong>and Poolside Swivel Slipper Chair<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

Sutherland\u2019s C Table by Stefan Gulassa remains a striking choice for designers across the globe. This year, the brand is adding to the Gulassa table family with two pieces: the Taglio Table <\/strong>and the Koi Table<\/strong>. Taglio, which translates to \u201ccut\u201d in English, looks like a round pedestal that has been cut out on the sides, revealing a rough T shape. It is available in three modern materials: polished stainless steel, powder coat aluminum, and GFRC. Koi features a slanted shape with cropped corners, and is available in teak, polished stainless steel, powder coat aluminum, and GFRC.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

About Maximilian Jencquel<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

\n

Born in Venezuela in 1978, Maximilian Jencquel is fluent in 5 languages: English, Spanish, French, German, and Indonesian. Following his studies in the USA, he pursued a Masters in Interior Design at the prestigious ESAG Penninghen in Paris, France, graduating as valedictorian in 2005. After graduation, Maximilian was recruited by Andree Putman to assist with the design of the Anne Fontaine boutique in Tokyo, and a private residence for movie producer Jerry Bruckheimer in Miami. In 2006, he joined Christian Liaigre\u2019s design studio in Paris, and spent several years assisting with projects from across the globe.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

\n

Maximilian decided to leave Paris following his trip to Indonesia in 2010, where he discovered a heartfelt connection to Ubud, the cultural and artistic center of Bali. After establishing Studio Jencquel in 2011, Maximilian is now pursuing his passion for vernacular architecture and tropical landscapes, which is inspired by his childhood in Venezuela. Today they are the DNA of his creativity.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n
