Perhaps the best examples of his savoir faire are his Loire Valley ch\u00e2teau and Paris apartment, both of which are featured in his upcoming tome, At Home in France: Inspiration and Style in Town and Country (Rizzoli), available in September. \u201cIt is not just the beauty of the city that I love, but the way that there is a very innate appreciation of the rich culture that is found in France,\u201d says the designer. \u201cA person who is bored with Paris is a person who is bored with life.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wysiwyg__gutenberg\">\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Here, Corrigan highlights his favorite design-forward destinations in the City of Light:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wysiwyg__gutenberg\">\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><br><strong>There are amazing restaurants in Paris.<\/strong> Le Voltaire is a Parisian landmark; you are likely to see French movie stars, famous designers, and aristocrats. It has incredible chocolate mousse. For a fun time and a great view, try Gigi\u2019s on the famed Avenue Montaigne; the music is wonderful, and there are gorgeous views of the Eiffel Tower. Finally, for a true French bistro experience, don\u2019t miss Le Bistrot d\u2019\u00e0 C\u00f4t\u00e9. It\u2019s tiny, but the food is terrific.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wysiwyg__gutenberg\">\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><br><strong>I like to explore antique stores<\/strong> on the Left Bank as well as the handful that are scattered around the ninth arrondissement in the area that is called La Nouvelle Ath\u00e8nes. For lovely tableware, I go to Au Bain Marie on Boulevard Raspail.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wysiwyg__gutenberg\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"241\" height=\"316\" src=\"https:\/\/www.perennialsfabrics.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/paris_3.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-135375\" srcset=\"https:\/\/perennials.imgix.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/23172407\/paris_3.jpg 241w, https:\/\/perennials.imgix.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/23172407\/paris_3-229x300.jpg 229w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 241px) 100vw, 241px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Some of the 1,113 stained-glass panels inside Sainte-Chapelle.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wysiwyg__gutenberg\">\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\" style=\"font-style:normal;font-weight:300\"><strong>It\u2019s good to go to the various monuments<\/strong> before the crowds of tourists descend. Start early with a visit to Sainte-Chapelle, the 13th-century chapel that was the king\u2019s place of worship on the \u00cele de la Cit\u00e9. I particularly like some of the smaller house museums\u2014the Mus\u00e9e Carnavalet has some gems of paneled period rooms. A walk in the Luxembourg Gardens is a must, and I always stop at my very favorite place in Paris: the Medici Fountain.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wysiwyg__gutenberg\">\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>If it is a person\u2019s first visit to Paris<\/strong>, I suggest ending the day with a Bateaux Mouches open-deck boat ride along the Seine. I do it at sunset so that you can see all the beautiful buildings that have been built along the river. It is a perfect introduction to the city.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wysiwyg__gutenberg\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"516\" height=\"336\" src=\"https:\/\/www.perennialsfabrics.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/paris_2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-135373\" srcset=\"https:\/\/perennials.imgix.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/23172349\/paris_2.jpg 516w, https:\/\/perennials.imgix.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/23172349\/paris_2-300x195.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 516px) 100vw, 516px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The Mus\u00e9e des Arts D\u00e9coraufs in Paris.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wysiwyg__gutenberg\">\n<p><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wysiwyg__gutenberg\">\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>My ideal day would start early <\/strong>at the famed March\u00e9 aux Puces flea market at Clignancourt. From there, I would go to the Drouot auction house, where you will find everything from Old Masters to antique books. I like to end such a day visiting one of my favorite museums, either the Mus\u00e9e des Arts D\u00e9coratifs or the Nissim de Camondo, which is a small jewel box of a house museum that has been perfectly preserved from the early 20th century.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wysiwyg__gutenberg\">\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>The best new museum to visit<\/strong> is the H\u00f4tel de la Marine. It is a spectacular building right on the Place de la Concorde. You get to experience the way the aristocrats of the 18th century lived in splendor. The audio guide provides a wonderful understanding of what an important role this building has played in the life of Paris.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wysiwyg__gutenberg\">\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Before a traveler leaves Paris, <\/strong>they absolutely must take the time to be a fl\u00e2neur, which is a fancy French word meaning to simply walk about the town without any real purpose or agenda. Stop at a caf\u00e9 for a coffee. Look at the passersby, study the buildings, and imagine how many people have done the same thing on these streets for hundreds of years.
