From eating sloppy spaghetti on a white sofa to throwing a kid&#8217;s party in a newly renovated living room. Fearless design begets fearless living. Designing fearlessly can mean a multitude of things to different clients. As part of <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"New York Design Center's (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/wnwn.nydc.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">New York Design Center&#8217;s<\/a> What&#8217;s New What&#8217;s Next programming, Perennials invited three designers to chat with <em>Elle Decor<\/em> Editorial Director Stellene Volandes. Sheila Bridges, Martyn Lawrence Bullard, and Stephanie Goto <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=YOIwV-lMuQI\">shared their unique perspectives<\/a> on what it means to design without limits. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wysiwyg__gutenberg\">\n<h3>Staying Fearless with Clients in Mind<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wysiwyg__gutenberg\">\n<p>In terms of how many risks a designer can take, it&#8217;s all about the client. When asked how to navigate fearless design, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Sheila Bridges (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/harlemtoilegirl\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\">Sheila Bridges<\/a> noted, &#8220;It depends who I&#8217;m designing for! He noted that Kardashian was terrified of ruining all white fabric, so Perennials sheers were the perfect solution.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"blockquote__wrapper\">\n    <blockquote class=\"blockquote\" data-align=\"left\">\n                    <p class=\"blockquote__copy\">\n                I wanted to play up the drama&#8230; make it sexy and seductive.            <\/p>\n                            <p class=\"blockquote__byline\">\n                Martyn Lawrence Bullard            <\/p>\n            <\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wysiwyg__gutenberg\">\n<h3>Create a Narrative<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wysiwyg__gutenberg\">\n<p> Elle Decor Editorial Director<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" Stellene Volandes (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/stellenevolandes\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\"> Stellene Volandes<\/a> believes fearlessness is &#8220;not being afraid to create a narrative that may be surprising.&#8221; Try bringing indoor design outdoors with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sutherlandfurniture.com\/products\/louis-soleil-regence-wing-chair\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"upholstered furniture (opens in a new tab)\">upholstered furniture<\/a>. Bridges note, &#8220;take risks in small spaces like powder rooms or guest rooms, where you aren&#8217;t spending lots of time.&#8221;<\/li><li>Break your own rules<\/li><li>Opt for a luxe velvet sofa in the (chaotic) family room using <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Perennials velvets (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.perennialsfabrics.com\/products\/fabrics\/?tags[]=velvets\" target=\"_blank\">Perennials velvets<\/a><\/li><li>&#8220;Deconstruct what is normal,&#8221; &#8211; Stephanie Goto<\/li><li>Realize rooms can be multi-functional.
